McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston has extraordinary opportunities in the Louis A. Faillace, M.D., Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences for mental health professionals seeking to develop an academic career in Psychiatry. 

Inpatient Psychiatrists (Adult, Child & Adolescent, and Geriatric)

We seek adult, child, and geriatric psychiatrists in multiple specialties and sub-specialties to join our excellent faculty team at the UTHealth Houston Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC) and the newly opened John S. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center.  Our robust collegial atmosphere fosters collaboration and teamwork!  These positions provide exceptional teaching and supervisory opportunities to residents and medical students as a key training site for the McGovern Medical School, and soon to be opened UTHealth School of Behavioral Health Sciences, opening in the fall of 2025. 

Selected candidates are expected to contribute to the Department’s mission of education, research, and patient care, and actively participate in the teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications  

  • M.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Texas.
  • Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, and geriatric psychiatry or have completed accredited training in these specialty and sub-specialty areas in the United States.
  • Experience or interest in research and/or education is preferred.

Depending on qualifications and credentials, faculty appointments at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor will be offered.
