McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston invites applications for an Assistant Professor, tenure track research faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics Research Center. 

 

The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administration activities, and other services. The position is highly competitive regarding salary, start-up funds, and laboratory space.

 

McGovern School of Medicine is one of six schools in The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and is located in the Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest medical center.

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

 

Successful candidates will be expected to maintain or develop and sustain research programs with extramural funding including microscopy, genomics, proteomics, histopathology cores, and vivariums, play an integral role in new program initiatives, and contribute to the teaching mission of the department and the school.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D., MD or MD/Ph.D., or equivalent degrees

  • Expertise in intrinsic defects causing birth defects using mouse and/or zebrafish models. These research interests complement those already established in the department including craniofacial malformations, craniosynostosis, kidney, and cardiovascular malformations and disorders resulting from abnormal cartilage and bone growth, and will allow for collaborations.

  • Record of research accomplishments and have extramural grants including but not limited to NIH K99/R00.
