CIZIK ENDOWED DISTINGUISHED CHAIR- RESEARCH DEPARTMENT
Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston (CSON) invites nominations and applications for an Endowed Distinguished Chair. Senior scientists with a funded multidisciplinary program of established researchers are invited to apply. The incumbent is expected to be a recognized academic leader who will promote intellectual and ethical leadership in research.
While we are open to a broad range of areas of expertise, we have a particular interest in candidates whose science focuses on data science, health technology, symptom science, and population health. Although candidates must demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching and service, this Chair position is reserved for those concentrated on the advancement of nursing science.
The Chair collaborates with other Endowed Chairs, the Director of the Cizik Center for Nursing Research, the Associate Dean for Research, and the Dean to advance the research mission and goals of the CSON and the Cizik Center for Nursing Research. The Chair functions administratively within the Board of Regents, UTHealth Houston, and the CSON policies and procedures.
The Chair is responsible for the design, execution, and procurement of funding for research in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Chairs must maintain the values espoused by the institution and school and promote research and education.
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a minimal teaching load concentrated on Ph.D. courses and committees.

Train and advise graduate and postdoctoral students.

Maintain a significant research portfolio supported by extramural funding.

Identify and respond to health issues that need to be addressed through research, curriculum development, practice, and community service.

Facilitate the professional development of the Research Institute faculty and CSON research faculty including growth for promotion and tenure.

Establish sustained relationships within the Texas Medical Center to broaden the scope of the Cizik Nursing Research Institute.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate in Nursing or equivalent field and a strong record of significant research funding with preference given to those with substantial NIH funding. Experience in a senior clinical, hospital, rehabilitation, long-term care facility, healthcare system management, public policy position, or similar accomplishments and leadership are valuable, although not a requirement. This is a senior position and the candidate is expected to meet the standards for a tenured appointment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Chair is endowed annually to support the holder’s research. This is an exempt, full-time position. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403(b), and retirement plan.
