Qualifications:

 

  1. DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college or ECFVG/PAVE foreign equivalency certification.

  2. Active veterinary license in at least one U.S. state; must be eligible to acquire a Texas veterinary license if not already licensed in Texas.

  3. Eligibility for DEA controlled substances registration.

  4. Two years of recent and relevant experience working as a clinical veterinarian in a laboratory animal program or completion of a laboratory animal residency. Experience with and interest in the medical care and surgical support of wide range of species is required. 

  5. Experience in reviewing animal protocols and amendments is preferred as all veterinarians perform reviews and participate in other regulatory duties.

  6. Current and relevant working knowledge of animal research regulations and guidelines.

  7. If not an ACLAM diplomat, a desire to pursue board certification is preferred.

  8. Strong interpersonal skills in a team environment with excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.

  9. Proficiency in computer software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  10. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position ( lift, squat, kneel, reach overhead, stand on stools, wear appropriate PPE for bioexclusion and biohazard areas).
