McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position in the Department of Advanced Cardiopulmonary Therapies and Transplantations (ACTAT).

The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, and administrative activities.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The Assistant/Associate Professor in ACTAT will see advanced heart failure patients, collaborate on research projects, develop the community outreach of the program, and participate in supervision and teaching of medical students and residents in clinical and hospital settings.

Responsibilities include:

-Participating in the ACTAT Center for Advanced Heart Failure practice at   various Memorial Hermann locations and UT Physician locations in Houston   and surrounding areas, including participation in a UT ACTAT Cardiovascular   Surgery physician group call team for coverage.
-Collaborating with CV Surgeons, Cardiologists, and Pulmonologist physicians.
-Being involved in the recruitment, selection and hiring of new or additional
 physicians to the group
-Providing feedback regarding office operations including hiring staff, office
 logistics and new physician recruitment.
-Participating in the education and training of medical students and residents
-Supporting the research mission of the department and university through:

a) Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff.
b) Assisting when requested with collection of research data including biological specimens
c) Providing information and education on on-going research studies to
potentially eligible research subjects.


The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Required Thoracic board certification. Preferred experience with lung and heart transplantations.
