McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track faculty position in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor/ Associate professor/ Professor.    

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Providing training of residents, fellows, and medical students as well as development of an individual and/or collaborative research program.

  • Serving as role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability and interpersonal skills

  • Collaborating with UTHealth and hospital administration and physicians to identify future opportunities, and define the direction of department services;  developing, and implementing plans to achieve identified goals.

  • Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing and implementing unit specific standards, policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of care and services; continuously assesses and improves assigned departments' performance while enhancing service.

  • Participating in and/or chairs committees, work groups, and meetings at as appropriate

  • Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained and ongoing. Following up to ensure that complaints have been  satisfactorily handled. Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent services.

  • Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in fields of expertise; supporting and promoting education and research.

Service in Autopsy may be desirable in the future.

 

Qualifications:


The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License or eligibility for licensure in the state of Texas.   Required board certification in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP.  Required Neuropathology experience and prefer formal Fellowship training in Neuropathology with a subspecialty experience in at least one of the following areas: Molecular, Gastrointestinal, General Surgical Pathology, Bone and Soft-Tissue, or Pediatrics. 

Salary and Academic Rank will commensurate with qualifications and experience
