The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, a leading academic health center-School of Public Health (UTSPH) invites applications to fill tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor level on the UTSPH Houston Campus located in the Texas Medical Center. Multiple positions are available and affiliated with the Department of Biostatistics and in Data Science at UTSPH.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The data science positions are expected to perform research in big biomedical/health science data mining, modeling, analysis, prediction and visualization, as well as contribute to the development of our new Data Science graduate programs. Previous research experience in Big Data management, data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, large-scale optimization, unstructured data processing/analysis, electronic health records, and high-performance computing is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a PhD or its professional equivalent in data science, computer science, statistics, biostatistics, engineering, computational mathematics or other related disciplines. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of outstanding research work, excellent teaching performance and recognized leadership in the data science field.

Strong candidates will have exceptional communication and collaborative skills and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, as exemplified by extramural grant support. In addition candidates will be responsible for teaching and advising graduate students, maintaining collaborative and/or methodological extramural grant support, and provide departmental and university service across the six campuses in our institution.
