Position Summary:

This position's primary duties will include tier 1 mentoring support to Early Learning Programs (ELP). Additional duties include onboarding early learning programs into CLI Engage resources and regular contact with early learning programs. The Texas Rising Star Mentor I will assist early learning programs to improve their practice with initial resources to support their participation in the Child Care Services (CCS) Program in the 13-county Houston-Galveston region.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Handles general inquiries about eligibility for Texas Rising Star Certification program, as outlined in the Texas Rising Star Guidelines. 
  2. Responsible for routine check-in procedures with early learning programs that are seeking to attain or maintain Texas Rising Star Certification according to the Gulf Coast Workforce Early Education Service model. Duties include checking in on the status of administrators and/or teachers in their online learning and providing support where needed. 
  3. Completes and processes forms and documents using standard policies and procedures, as described in the Texas Rising Star Guidelines.
  4. Provides onboarding support to administrators and teachers in creating accounts and accessing CLI Engage Resources, including the Digital Resource Collection for Texas Rising Star early learning programs.  
  5. Provide technology support for professional learning communities (PLCs). Schedules PLCs and/or trainings for participants and provides PLC logistical support as needed.
  6. Build and maintain effective and timely written and oral communications with all administrators and teachers.
  7. Complete the Texas Rising Star Assessment Training for mentors as described in the Texas Rising Star Guidelines.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  1. Basic knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
  2. Texas Rising Star staff members are required to complete annual professional development and continuing education consistent with the Texas Rising Star annual minimum training hours required for a Texas Rising Star-certified child care center director.
  3. All mentors must attain mentor micro-credentialing, as described in the Texas Rising Star Guidelines.

Minimum Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year related work experience is required. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
