Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Coding Specialist to join our growing Revenue Cycle team. The ideal candidate will have experience is providing coding for specialist care, and particularly with pediatric specialist cases.  You must have at least three years of coding experience.  You will determine and apply the correct standardized coding conventions to patient charge encounters as defined by regulatory agencies, to include but not limited to: Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA), American Medical Association (AMA), and National Heritage Insurance Company (NHIC). 

This is a full time role that will be required to be on-site at our Operations Center Building. You will work normal business hours Monday through Friday.  This is a non-exempt role that is eligible for full benefits.  These include a very low cost healthcare option as well as a State of Texas run pension plan.  This role will have a great career track in a growing organization. 


Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Identifies the correct coding application required for the patient charge encounters to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines for clinical documentation.
  2. Identifies and applies standardized coding specific to specialty, as defined by coding conventions and correct coding initiative, for service performed.
  3. Codes in multiple specialties, as opposed to a single specialty.
  4. Codes from charts, abstracts, medical diagnostic or interventional reports or medical records.
  5. Enters into physician billing system all physician charge encounters.
  6. Analyzes billing reports to ensure 100% charge capture.
  7. May prepare daily patient/insurance payments for deposits as well as HCFA & AMA claims forms.
  8. May have lead or training responsibility for coding specialist.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

Three years of related experience. 
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
