Position Summary:
The Division of Oncology at UT Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Hire Research to assist with ongoing oncology research projects. This temporary position is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in biology, medicine, public health, or a related field who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in clinical and translational oncology research.
Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects
Seasonal Hires are a temporary status and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and ½ months. These individuals may be hired either as full-time or part-time and must be a minimum age of 16 years
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of clinical and research data.
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings relevant to ongoing projects.
- Support the preparation of research materials, including IRB submissions, study protocols, and participant recruitment documents.
- Work closely with faculty, research coordinators, and fellows on assigned research tasks.
- Contribute to the drafting of abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific conferences.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of research activities, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
- Attend and participate in research meetings and training sessions as required.
Certification/Skills:
- Basic understanding of research methodology and medical or scientific terminology.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SPSS, R, or Excel is preferred.
- Ability to effectively search, review, and summarize scientific literature.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and documentation.
- Certification in Human Subjects Research (e.g., CITI training) or willingness to complete the training before starting.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
