Psychiatric Technician Trainee

Position Summary:
The Psychiatric Technician Trainee is responsible for assisting with patient care activities/tasks for psychiatric patients under the supervision of more senior-level nursing staff. The incumbent will assist with maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment under the direction of the licensed staff. Candidates engage in a 90-day training program to be considered for a full-time Psychiatric Technician position. It is a perfect role for those wanting to gain experience in the mental health field.
With the opening of Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/Harris Counter Psychiatric Center at UTHealth Houston, we have the largest academic psychiatric hospital in the country, serving the region with a 500+ bed facility. Our dedicated healthcare employees will have the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of mental health specialties and cutting-edge research. Our specialties range from Acute, Subacute, and Intensive Outpatient, to Continuum of Care, Mood Disorders, ECT, Early Onset Treatment, Adult General Psychiatry, Competency Restoration, Child and Adolescent, Juvenile Justice, Geriatric Psychiatry, Treatment Mall, and Unit-Based Programming.
