Position Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UTHealth Houston is seeking a program manager who develops, plans, and manages all activities of the Nurturing Resilience Initiative, an innovative initiative focused on improving access to mental health care in Fort Bend County. The position requires approximately 50% on-site work, including travel to community partners (mileage reimbursement included). Candidates should have a strong interest in interdisciplinary work as they will work closely with a diverse team co-located within the department and function in a leadership capacity in the program.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Oversees all aspects of the program activities. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors project progress. Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures requiring impeccable skill in organizational and time management with exceptional attention to detail.

2. May manage/maintain procurement responsibilities, negotiate service contracts, report on progress and/or authorize expenditures.

3. Informs upper management of key activities and with general office responsibilities that relate to advertising programming and recruiting

4. Works closely with internal departments regarding strategy and collaborative opportunities.

5. May assist in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.

6. Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.

7. Working in conjunction with Public Affairs, may create and edit various communications materials for the department/program, which may include printed materials, web site content and/or department newsletters.

8. Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes. Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings.

9. May manage Human Resources activities for direct report in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

May require program-specific certifications.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of applicable experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
