Position Summary:

Manages individual, complicated projects with multiple study sites, numerous classrooms and multiple trainers and teachers. Removes administrative duties from principle investigator. 

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinates project activities between the Education Outreach Coordinator and the classroom teachers. Supervises and monitors implementation of training and evaluation methods in classrooms.
  2. Develops and writes statewide curriculum for use in Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary and secondary schools.
  3. Designs presentations and trains teachers nation-wide on the most current research information and classroom instruction techniques.
  4. Translates current research into lessons for teachers. Demonstrates model lessons in classrooms for teachers; provides on-going, side-by-side coaching for teachers in classroom settings.
  5. Travels to local, state, and national training sites to evaluate classroom instruction.
  6. Evaluates current school textbooks and provides feedback on how to differentiate, improve and upgrade instruction techniques.
  7. Reviews national reading curriculums for Pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, and secondary schools on an on-going basis.
  8. Writes and directs classroom instructional videos.
  9. Collects and reviews testing data from sites for research. Prepares executive summaries and reports upon completion of on-going classroom sites.
  10. Translates classroom-teaching materials from English to Spanish.
  11. May provide work direction and guidance to personnel within department. May lead projects and activities.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Certified teacher preferred.
Knowledge of current reading research applications, experience with presenting best practices in reading, experience classroom teacher who has supervised and coached teaching.

Certified in the Texas Rising Star's Assessment Training and Certification Program (ATCP). Preferred

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Eight (8) years of experience in one of the following areas is required: curriculum writing, and/or managing school/child care programs, and/or designing and conducting professional development programs for teachers. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement. 
 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
