Director Marketing & Communications - UTHealth Houston Heart and Vascular
POSITION SUMMARY:
UTHealth Houston is looking for a Director of Marketing and Communications. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing a marketing and communications strategy for the UTHealth Houston Heart and Vascular program at the McGovern Medical School. On a day-to-day basis, this person works directly with the Heart and Vascular program leaders and faculty members and creates and manages a broad range of high-quality communications for internal and external stakeholders through writing and editing, multimedia content development and management, and creative direction. You are overseeing a major marketing plan that promotes several distinct programs and the services of the physicians working for them. This is a role that will grow, and we are looking for someone excited to grow with it.
We are open to marketing professionals of varying backgrounds. While it could be helpful to have healthcare experience, what this role truly needs is someone who can manage relationships and projects in tandem. You will oversee projects that incorporate the Internet, print and outdoor ads, and printed collateral. This includes everything from a physician’s biography found on the web and in brochures to a billboard campaign. You will need to juggle many clients and many projects and learn how to prioritize all of them simultaneously. If you have been an advertising agency account executive, you will be familiar with how this multitasking works. Communication and writing skills need to be advanced and are one of your strengths. You should be comfortable presenting to high-ranking leaders in an organization and handle stressful situations with grace and tact.
This is a director-level role in our organization, but would initially have no direct reports. You will need to be able to work a hybrid schedule with more frequent time in the office as you learn your role and ramp up. It is eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits and is classified as exempt.
