UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a Coordinator I, Educational Programs, to join their team of professionals. The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and administering educational programs to help students and prospective students understand the department's offerings; assisting the program director with student recruitment; taking minutes for meetings; organizing and coordinating admissions, arranging and planning faculty travel and departmental events; and more. This is essentially an administrative role that is often clerical.

Position Summary:

Plans, and administers the academic, operational, and financial activities of the
residency program; contributes to the development of department's educational and administrative goals and
objectives; develops the mapping of the residency program structure; and provides sound guidance and advice
on other pertinent residency program issues.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Provides assistance to the Residency Coordinator with the coordination of the Oral Surgery
Residency program in order to ensure the achievement of the program's goals and objectives.
2. Provides administrative oversight for all residency and fellowship related items, but not limited to,
the following: handling inquiries, sorting correspondence, setting up folders, maintaining residency
program files in accordance with records retention schedules, assisting in requests for verification
of residency training, and maintaining calendar of applicant appointments and meetings.
3. Provides assistance to the OMFS Residency Coordinator, Admin Manager and Dept Chair with ad
hoc duties and assignments.
4. Manages schedules and resident attendance for all required educational activities, including
conferences and other didactic experiences. Maintains the residency curriculum, including
competency-based goals and objectives for each assignment and each level of training. Creates
and edits departmental residency training manual.
5. Oversees certain aspects of the resident/fellow recruitment process including scheduling interview
dates, corresponding with potential applicants, confirming meetings and appointments and
ensuring applicant credentials are in compliance with current guidelines.
6. Provides support in recommending and implementing policies and procedures to improve the
practical clinical experience of the students. Directs, within a research setting, a lecture format and
laboratory.
7. Assists faculty, residents, and other personnel with various on-boarding activities.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

One year of experience in educational setting.
Experience in classroom teaching preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
