Continuing Education Law Enforcement Security Training Coordinator - University of Texas Police Department
The Educational Specialist provides advanced professional skills in the area of employee development needs, assessment, design and delivery. Provides the coordination of training and self-development of University Police employees to further their administrative and technical skills. This position is responsible for maintaining Training and Initiatives for the University of Texas Police at Houston, as well as records on departmental personnel, providing training (entry and in-service) to personnel both in the classroom and field environments, and planning, organizing, and evaluating training programs. Coordinates training and instruction with the proper personnel that is qualified for that type of instruction.

Position Summary:
Provides advanced professional skills in the area of employee development needs, assessment, design and delivery. Provide the coordination of training and self-development of University Police employees to further their administrative and technical skills.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Determines the training and development needs of the university police department.
- Monitors all University of Texas at Houston Police Department training.
- Develops new course material to support professional, supervisory and team development.
- Coordinates all internal and external in-service training. Co-operates with staff to provide in house training to appropriate personnel.
- Assists with production and management of education programs and products.
- Assists in the development of modules for the program.
- Maintains a list of current instructors, with credentials from within the department to assist with in house training needs.
- Assists in monitoring departmental training efforts and the implantation of all divisional and institutional initiatives.
- Develops content of curriculum and ensures content of modules is organized. Formatted, and accurate.
- Identifies and secures speakers and presenters. Arranges venues, coordinates printed media and advertising.
- Applies to accrediting bodies for the right to issue continuation credits to participants in educational events.
- Evaluates the performance of the new employees during the entry-level training program.
- Monitors departmental training efforts and coordinates with the Quality Programs Team to assist in the implementation of all divisional and institutional training initiatives.
- Maintains the continuing education credit applications, certification, records retention requirements and monitors the awarding of the continuing education credits to participants.
- Assists with the planning and coordination of educational events, such as conferences, and programs.
- Serves as an internal and external liaison for the team to provide and ensure a smooth, efficient, and appropriate flow of information.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Minimum Education:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, education, psychology, criminal justice, personnel management or related field with two years related work experience (highly preferred), or Associates degree and four years of experience; or an associates degree and four years of experience.

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
