Position Summary:

We are looking for an entry-to-mid-level compensation analyst to join the dynamic Compensation Services team in our human resources department. This employee provides technical subject matter support to the Compensation Services team in order to recruit, develop, and retain a high-caliber workforce. You will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with business partners to achieve positive and effective outcomes in support of university and departmental business objectives. They will focus on helping to conduct and create salary surveys, and work with client groups to determine pay strategies for the University and clinics. This analyst will need to move quickly, have superior customer service and analytical skills, and be able to handle communicating with clinical and executive leadership effectively. You will also handle requests for exceptions in compensation and help administer award and bonus programs for staff.   

 

We are preferably looking for a candidate who has worked with compensation in a clinical environment, so that would be a plus. But if you have a strong human resources or a financial background, we also encourage you to apply. We need strong skills in critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving. It will take someone curious, who likes to uncover things similar to a private investigator, finding out everything they can to uncover a client’s needs.   

 

Applicants must be skilled in and have a passion for Microsoft Excel. Must be able to do "v look-ups", pivot tables, filtering, and conditional formatting.  

 

This is a full-time role that is classified as salaried and exempt. Currently, this role is largely remote, but there will be times when you will need to come into the office in the Texas Medical Center for training, to attend meetings, or assist in person on projects. Training could take place partially on-site as well. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits, including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Provides day-to-day analysis and support to the compensation services team and internal clients on compensation strategy, policy & procedures, and overall salary administration. 
2. Performs job analysis and job evaluation in alignment with the University job classification structure. 
3. Performs accurate, timely review and processing of HCM transactions, ensuring compliance with University guidelines and policies; researches discrepancies and collaborates with business partners to resolve issues.
4. Compiles and maintains data and various reports; generates queries and assists with software maintenance and updates. 
5. Serves as an internal resource to the department and the organization in understanding and applying compensation-related programs; provides advice and counsel as needed. 
6. Participates in salary surveys, maintains survey software data, and generates ad hoc reports.
7. Performs various compensation activities such as market and/or equity analysis, promotion/reclassification reviews, supplemental pay programs, etc.
8. May participate in reviewing and recommending updates to university compensation-related policies and practices to reflect current Federal and State laws and University regulations, policies, and practices. 
9. Maintains compensation-related HRIS systems, including website, merit tool, HCM, etc.
10. Assists with preparing internal compensation metrics to support sound organizational decision-making.
11. Prepares various compliance-related compensation reports.   
12. Responsible for keeping compensation department information up to date.
13. Researches and answers routine questions or issues in compliance with UTHealth policies. Advises clients on compensation-related policies and procedures.
14. Participates in various compensation projects.
15. Other duties as required.
 
 

 

Certification/Skills:

Preferred: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or working toward CCP designation.

Must possess superior Excel skills

 

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, related field, or relevant four years of experience in lieu of education.

 

Minimum Experience:

Two years of responsible, related professional experience within human resources. Preferred: At least one year of compensation experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects.
