Position Summary:

Interviews research subjects, primarily in the field, collects data and records data for various health studies.

Location: 1200 Hermann Pressler
Department: School of Public Health
Status: Casual ( 10-15 hrs. wkly)
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Preferred Duties:
Seeking a part-time Community Health Worker (or equivalent insurance navigation experience) to work on project providing viral hepatitis education, screening, vaccination and treatment to individuals with experiences of or at risk for homelessness. The hire will have a flexible schedule negotiating payment or access for hepatitis coverage with pharmaceutical or insurance companies for patients at 5-10 hours/wk.  


Position Key Accountabilities:

1.  Work with project team to develop Policies and Procedures guidebook.  

2.  Work closely with Federally Qualified Health Center to identify individuals in need of coverage for Hepatitis C treatment.  

3.  Contact insurance and pharmaceutical companies to handle all necessary paperwork.  

4.  Coordinate with study team and clients to complete paperwork. 

5.  Handles administrative details such as time and effort reports, and mileage reports.

6.  Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a complex schedule 

Cultural sensitivity in working with diverse communities including ability to develop rapport with diverse individuals 

Ability to work independently 

Minimum Education:

High school degree or equivalent. CHW certification or similar preferred.

Minimum Experience:

No experience required. Applicants with experience with insurance or pharmaceutical companies preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
