Position Summary:

Provides workflow support for electronic healthcare record (EHR) workflows in UT Physicians Clinics.  This role is responsible for the identification of improved workflow and personalization opportunities via observation and subsequently facilitates one-on-one support to the end user.  Functions as a subject matter expert, liaison and project manager for deployment of key workflows surrounding the EHR; supporting practice plan operations and in full collaboration with clinical technology managers and analysts.  Mentor lower level employees on strategies to support clinicians. 
 

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Monitors opportunity for improvement in workflows or personalization of user¿s Epic EHR to facilitate an improved experience for providers and staff through at the elbow (ATE) observations and support and through the utilization of available Epic reports such as the Executive Packet, Signal and other reporting tools and key performance indicators (KPIs).  Supports clinics through rounding, works collaboratively with clinic and department leaders to recognize needs and identify solutions.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Supports end-users to ensure standardization of best practice in the use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other assigned areas of focus with the ability to integrate new workflow concepts into practice.  Ensures adoption of key EHR workflows throughout assigned departments.  Acts as a resource/liaison for employees, physicians and management, including front line support.
  • Supports the development of safe, productive, patient-centered employees and providers by developing and implementing plans to improve the overall efficiency, effectiveness and quality of UT Physicians' departments and patient care services.  Documents processes in need of additional evaluation and identifies opportunities for improvement.  Acts as a lead on projects involving the improvement of EHR practices within clinics.
  • Measures and reports out on performance of providers, staff and departments to identify areas improved as a result of efforts and in collaboration with UTP operations, identifies reporting needs to monitor workflows.  Maintains excellent communication with all levels of staff and leadership.
  • Partners with other operational and clinical technology departments to plan and facilitate workflow deployments within assigned departments.  Critically evaluates proposed workflows to identify potential barriers for staff and physicians. 
    Build relationships with department and clinic leadership, providers and staff within assigned areas of responsibility.  
  • Works with the Epic Analysts and Managers to identify efficient workflows to be deployed to the end users and identify and recommend opportunities to optimize.  Ability to evaluate workflows against practice standards to improve patient services and increase satisfaction with the Epic EHR; initiating change as required.  Collaborates with the Epic EHR Training team to develop training materials that comply with established policies and regulatory standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • EPIC - EPIC Certification Epic Informaticist or Ambulatory Certification preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
     

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
 

Minimum Experience:

  • 4 years relevant work experience required
  • 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant, LVN, RN, clinic operations, or EHR analyst/informaticist preferred
  • Experience using EPIC electronic health record preferred

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
