Plans, coordinates, and directs administrative/support services for the UTHealth School of Public Health San Antonio Campus Student Affairs Office

  • Makes complex decisions concerning student development of their degree planners, selecting courses in accordance with degree planner and academic requirements, as well as assistance with SPH web site navigation, requiring a comprehensive and extensive knowledge of a wide range of regulations, policies, and curriculum for UTHealth School of Public Health – Houston, as staff advisor.
  • Reviews expenditures for graduation and enrollment activities and maintains related databases to verify the accuracy of and ensure compliance to budgetary limitations and staying within compliance of funding guidelines, along with coordination and attendance of new student orientations.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and reports on applications for faculty review and admissions meetings.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and attends recruiting events and ensures that the appropriate registration, fees, correspondence, and material is supplied for distribution.
  • Prepares the course schedule (spring, summer, and fall) for the San Antonio Regional Campus.
  • Regularly handles confidential information and sensitive issues.
  • Will train and supervisor entry-level graduate assistant.
  • Will serve as liaison with others within and outside the School of Public Health regarding new programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to make general decisions requiring a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of regulations, policies, procedures and practices. Generally requires use of initiative and independent judgment.  


Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with three (3) years of related experience in the areas of student admissions and enrollment and/or student advising; or
  • Master’s degree in related field with one (1) year of related experience in the areas of student admissions and enrollment and/or student advising.


Minimum Experience:

  • Years of experience varies based on education level.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
