We are hiring immediately for an Academic Achievement Coordinator I to join the UTHealth Houston McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics in Houston, TX 77030. In this position, you will support the McWilliams Office of Academic Affairs. Experience with MyUTH, GradCAS, and Simplicity are preferred. In this role, you will work with students to provide support for the several aspects of academic achievement, including professional development offerings, and assisting in establishing new academic partnerships.

Position Summary:

Develops, monitors, and manages various aspects of academic achievement to include the capstone experience, milestones such as qualifying exams, and professional development offerings. Assists in establishing new academic partnerships.

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinates the administrative infrastructure, including guides for students and faculty for the capstone practicum experience Collaborates with faculty, students and external organizations to identify and secure additional practicum sites.
  • Ensures that all administrative practicum requirements, to include affiliation agreements, student health and other documentation are in place prior to the student beginning the practicum. 
  • Travels to secondary schools, colleges, college day programs, recruiting fairs, and other events to meet with prospective students, parents, school administrators, and potential practicum sites to provide information about UTHealth.
  • Manages Continuing Education registration and continued development of CE offerings.
  • Provides support for PhD and DHI qualifying exam processes, including Canvas and grading using designated tools.
  • Responsible for ensuring all agreements for DHI projects are established as required.
  • Assists in establishing new academic partnerships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Strong project management skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Good working knowledge of management information systems, word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Three years of related experience in an academic setting.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
