The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), McGovern Medical School - Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Cardiology, seeks a full-time faculty member as an Assistant/Associate Professor who will serve as the Director of Fetal Echocardiography for its expanding non-invasive imaging section. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the leadership team of the The Fetal Center at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Candidates must have up-to-date knowledge of the most recent technological advances. In addition to expertise in fetal echocardiography, equivalent experience in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography is required. The candidate must also demonstrate leadership qualities and have a track record of team building. As a member of the division of Cardiology and core imaging faculty, the Director of Fetal Echocardiography will also provide direct inpatient and outpatient care, read transthoracic and perform transesophageal echocardiograms. Additionally, he/she will participate in fellow, resident, and medical student teaching, and have a demonstrated commitment to academic and clinical excellence in Pediatric Cardiology. Development of outreach fetal screening opportunities with a growing neonatal/MFM network will be a key component of this effort. Preference will be given to candidates with more than 5 years of post-fellowship cardiology experience, experience with developing a fetal cardiology program and those with an interest and track record for academic success in fetal medicine.

Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital is a 310-bed quaternary care women and children’s hospital located in the Texas Medical Center. The Cardiology Division provides a full range of Pediatric Cardiology services with 14 pediatric cardiologists, two cardiothoracic surgeons, and an ACGME-approved fellowship training program. A national referral center, The Fetal Center offers patients a complete range of prenatal testing and fetal interventions with a coordinated program for mother and child before, during and after birth. The level IV NICU is one of the nation’s largest, and the hospital is one of eight centers in the nation to participate in the leading collaborative networks dedicated to improving neonatal care—the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development’s Neonatal Research Network and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit Network. Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital is the major teaching facility for the Department of Pediatrics of the McGovern Medical School at UT Health.

The selected candidate for the position must have an MD or equivalent degree, be Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology, and licensed or licensable to practice medicine in the State of Texas.

The desired candidate will have completed three (3) years of fellowship training in pediatric cardiology with an additional year of training in advanced congenital cardiac imaging, and have five-plus (5+) years of pediatric echocardiography practice experience. The ideal applicant should have a focused expertise in the imaging and management of fetal cardiology patients and their mothers
