Certification/Skills:

Certification In Infection Control (CIC) with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology or to be obtained within one year of employment.
Knowledge of pertinent regulatory, accrediting and advisory body requirements including, but not limited to state and country regulations and recommendations from the CDC.  Working knowledge and ability to demonstrate a comprehension of patient care, outpatient clinic flow, occupational health, microbiology, epidemiology, and statistics.  Computer literacy is required with Microsoft programs (Access, Excel, Power -point, Word, etc).

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Licenses as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or a Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field.  MS or MPH in related field is preferred.

 

Minimum Experience:

Three years of healthcare experience which includes a minimum of 1 year in infection control. One year of infection control with outpatient emphasis is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
